- During prom season, Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library in Northumberland County hosted a one-day program called Operation Sparkle that helped promote a healthy body image for all young women. The library partnered with members in the community to provide various sessions, which included a healthy body image, respect for self and others, and developing a high self-esteem. Other sessions included skin care, wearing makeup, and easy ways to accessorize hair styles. At the end of the day, the participants were able to try on and take home a prom dress that was donated by a library patron or local bridal store.
- Bellwood Antis Public Library in Blair County joined forces with the local hospital to offer the Family Health and Safety Fair. Held at the library, 32 agencies and physicians provided free health screenings and invaluable information to help community members live a healthier and safer life.
- The Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA), in partnership with AARP, the Highmark PALS (People Able to Lend Support) Program and hosting libraries, invite adults age 50 and older to participate in Wise Walk, a free 10-week walking program. First time participants receive a pedometer, walking guide, and T-shirt. The walkers make weekly visits to their library to walk, report their steps, discover resources, and enjoy a healthy snack.
